This was only a small shower room but was antiquated and needed stripping out, the plaster re-skimming, new shelving, re-grouting, a new heater and light fittings etc. However, the point of interest is that this was the first time we used Benjamin Moore paints, recently arrived from the US. The “Bath & Spa” paint, at least, is extraordinary. This was a matt finish, but highly resistant to moisture/humidity, applied beautifully, had exceptional coverage resulting in a fantastically consistent finish on multiple different surfaces/substrates – yes, it can be used on both plaster and wood/fibrous materials, and we were obliged to contend with a variety of plasters, fillers, plywood, timber and MDF, all juxtaposed within a small space, but the end result was truly great. And the colour palette is huge. The ceiling (and door) was done in “Baby Seal Black” (the back wall is “Deep Silver”), and whilst none of these pictures were taken with the sunken lights on, when they are the effect is of real depth – something like a night sky. Very effective. It’s expensive, but highly recommended. (As advertised, it can also be cleaned/scrubbed without “polishing up” .)
