This dour room was to be prepared to become a nursery. After dismantling a built-in bed platform and stripping several layers of ancient wood-chip paper from walls and ceiling, the plaster was found to be in a very poor state and falling away from the wooden laths, brickwork and ceiling plasterboard. We re-skimmed the ceiling and made good the walls before decorating to reveal a bright and pretty little room.
